About the club
Villa Padierna Golf Club brings together three 18-hole courses in Benahavís, in Málaga province on Andalusia’s Costa del Sol. The resort lies between Marbella and Estepona, with sea views and mountains around it. For a visiting golfer, the combination of courses, a hotel and practice facilities gives the golf a broader setting than a single round.
Flamingos, Alferini and Tramores make up the course offering. Alongside them are a golf academy, a driving range, a clubhouse and a golf shop. A restaurant, tennis and padel add options beyond the courses, while Anantara Villa Padierna Palace provides accommodation within the resort.
The golf: three courses, including Tramores
Flamingos has hosted tournaments on both the European Senior Tour and the Ladies European Tour. It shares the resort with Alferini and Tramores, each also an 18-hole course.
Tramores has a distinct executive format. Designed by Antonio García Garrido and opened in 2009, it is an 18-hole, par-63 course that favours short, precise play. That emphasis makes the short game central to its character and gives golfers a clear idea of what to focus on here.
For visitors interested in that part of their golf, Tramores is worth noting when looking through the resort’s course choices. Its executive layout is a defining feature, while the round still extends over 18 holes.
Space to practise
The golf academy and driving range sit alongside the playing facilities. The range has 17 outdoor bays, plus an area dedicated to short-game practice. There is therefore provision for both range work and attention to the shorter shots, rather than practice being confined to the hitting bays.
These facilities are part of the club’s wider golf offering, together with the courses, shop and clubhouse.
Staying at the resort
Anantara Villa Padierna Palace is the resort’s hotel. The Hole 55 clubhouse, golf shop and restaurant provide further services around the golf, and the club also has a tournament and events offering.
For time away from the fairways, Racquet Club Villa Padierna adds tennis and padel. With accommodation, dining and racket sports alongside the golf, there are several ways to shape a stay between Marbella and Estepona without making every activity a round on the course.
