About the club
Miraflores Golf Club brings together golf and a social clubhouse setting in Mijas, in Málaga province on Andalucía’s Costa del Sol. Alongside its 18-hole course, the club has a bar and restaurant, an academy and sports therapy. For visitors travelling with someone who does not play, the restaurant provides a reason to visit together: it welcomes golfers and non-golfers alike and opens throughout the year.
The course and its setting
Opened in 1990, Miraflores Golf is a par-71 course that follows the valley. Its surprisingly flat layout is a defining feature of the setting, while the course runs around the clubhouse. The relationship between the golf course and the clubhouse is part of the club’s character, with the social side of a visit sitting alongside the golf itself.
There are two names in the course’s design history. The initial design is attributed to Robert Trent; Falco Nardi subsequently redesigned and supervised the course and is listed as its designer. These are distinct stages in the development of the layout that opened in 1990.
The yellow tees measure 5,148 metres and the red tees 4,479 metres. Both sets of tees serve the same 18-hole, par-71 layout, giving visiting golfers two reference lengths when considering a round at Miraflores.
A clubhouse for golfers and non-golfers
The clubhouse has a bar and restaurant, and the club is noted for its social atmosphere. Dining is not restricted to those playing the course, so a visit need not revolve entirely around a round of golf. The restaurant’s year-round opening is also useful when considering it as part of a Costa del Sol visit.
Restaurante Spikes Bar has its own entry in this guide. It is the club’s dining option whether you are combining golf with a meal or coming to Miraflores without playing.
Beyond the round
The academy and sports therapy add to the facilities available at the club. Separate guide pages cover these parts of Miraflores alongside the restaurant:
- Restaurante Spikes Bar.
- Golf academy and Miraflores Sports Village.
- Sports therapy.
For a visitor, the club therefore offers more than the course alone. Golf, the restaurant and the other services provide different reasons to spend time at Miraflores, within the same club setting in Mijas.
