Golf La Toja

Golf La Toja brings together nine holes of golf and a wider range of sports facilities in O Grove, in the Galician province of Pontevedra. For a visitor, the course is only part of the picture: the club also has a golf academy, practice facilities and a children's camp, alongside tennis, padel, croquet, swimming pools and dining.

Nine holes and a signature par 3

The course, listed as Real Club de Golf La Toja, opened in 1976 to a design by Ramón Espinosa García-Bermúdez. Its most emblematic hole is the fifth, Punta Cabreira. This short par 3 has an elevated tee and is the particular hole to know by name when getting acquainted with the layout.

Practice facilities include a driving range with eight bays and a length of around 200 metres. There is also a dedicated chipping and approach area, giving the club separate spaces for longer shots and short-game practice. The golf academy and children's camp are further elements of its golf provision.

A Galician club with a longer history

The club's origins predate the opening of the course. It was constituted in 1968 and registered in 1970 as Galicia's third-oldest golf club. Those dates distinguish the history of the institution from that of the nine-hole layout played today.

Another part of its sporting history is the Copa de Oro Conde de Fenosa, held since 1975. The competition is open to mid-amateur golfers from across Spain, rather than being limited to players from Galicia. It is a longstanding fixture associated with the club.

Beyond the golf course

The Beach Club was added in 2017, broadening the offering with croquet, tennis, padel, swimming pools and dining. These facilities give the club a sporting identity beyond its fairways, with several different activities represented on site.

For racket sports, there are two hard tennis courts and a third with an artificial-grass surface. The two padel courts also have artificial-grass surfaces. Croquet has its own lawn, together with two smaller strips set aside for training.

Taken together, the facilities combine a nine-hole course and golf practice areas with courts, croquet, pools and a restaurant. That wider offering is worth considering alongside the golf itself when looking at what La Toja provides.
